He is a husband and father of five. He is also an active member of his church and community. He loves volunteering, feeding people, and hosted the Mudfest Benefit for locals in need for 12 years in his own backyard with over 2,000 muddy attendees. He is the sole owner of Matthews Outdoor Living, but he has much help from his loving wife and a talented, amazing crew who all take much pride in their work. He is a Licensed General Contractor in TN with over 30 years of experience. He started out in business with his Dad, Larry Matthews, at AMP Construction Inc. AMP started in the 1950s and was incorporated in 1966. Donnie has been with AMP since 1994. Donnie merged AMP with Matthews Outdoor Living in 2001. Donnie, his father, and team built many small and large residential homes, churches, and commercial buildings. They also had a longstanding construction contract with Ameristeel with extensive safety training. Donnie credits his veteran dad, Larry Matthews, who is a retired contractor/owner, for his carpentry/contractor skills, job quality, high standards, values, and attention to detail. Larry retired from AMP Construction/Matthews Outdoor Living in 2018 but loves to keep up with projects and is always willing to share his thoughts. Donnie is also thankful for his mother, Cheryl Matthews (Madison Co retired school teacher), for her loving inspiration to find ways to make work fun, think outside the box, and for his creativity.

AMP and Matthews Outdoor Living are well-known in Madison and surrounding counties (references available upon request). Even when first starting with AMP in 1994, Donnie was always passionate about his Outdoor Living niche. Many customers have become repeat customers over the years and good friends. He makes building fun! He makes building as easy as possible and holds superior standards of quality. His designs are well-known to be recognizably unique. He brings each owner’s personality into their own Outdoor Living Space as no two projects are the same.

Matthews Outdoor Living is an Authorized Contractor for Angi and Belguard, A member of the West TN Home Builders Assoc., the Home Builders Assoc. of TN, and the National Association of Home Builders.
  • AMP Construction was incorporated in 1966, and the Matthews Outdoor Living division was started in 2001 by Donnie. He started doing design/build projects with AMP in 1994, but he always loved his Outdoor Living Niche and working on special outdoor features from the beginning of his career.
